Birdopolis Large Birdhouses

I’m back from the dead! Huzzah! I haven’t posted anything on here since last November, which is definitely my new hiatus record. The reason I’ve been so inactive is because I got a job at Nuukster, a social gaming startup, and the beginning of this summer saw the launch of our first Facebook game, Birdopolis. It’s a cross between the colorful world of bird watching and a builder; you build up your yard to spot and interact with all sorts of charming birds.

Being one of only two artists on our three person art team, I get to create assets ranging from birds to terrain objects to graphical user interfaces, and it’s a blast! The team at Nuukster is excellent, and we have a major publisher, 6waves .

Despite being more of a hardcore gamer with little respect for social games, I’m very proud of Birdopolis. We’re striving to make a social game that’s a cut above the average, with better game design, creative copy, and educational content, all rare things in this particular niche of game development. Best of all, rather than utilizing the often soulless 3D and/or vector based graphics that are universal in social games, we have entirely hand-illustrated artwork.

We’re in the home stretch, and once we meet their metrics our publisher will pump hundreds of thousands of users into the game, but we need a monetary push.
