Renegade

Let me just start by saying I don't think this is done, but it's to the point where I need a break and some feedback.

This is the first in a series of pictures I'm planning on on doing for a video game art show which I will be putting on next April/May. This is also the most time consuming piece I've ever done. By the time I finish tweaking it will definitely go over 50 hours.

On to the meat of the matter... I've had this image in my head for a good year-and-a-half now. It was definitely time to bring it to fruition, but it's been a fecking struggle. I've been working on this since the beginning of October, and at times it's been like pulling teeth. I've never done a complete picture with more than three light sources, more than four characters, any vehicles, explosions, or such a complex background. The lineart and the castle in particular made me want to bang my head against a wall. Plenty of details are incorrect, which I would have realized in time to fix if I had turned on the game for a closer look earlier. At this point, the inconsistencies will stay. I'll just call it my creative touch.

Other parts were quite fun. I do adore gun shots, and the signs made for fun Easter eggs. Jak and the fore most krimzon guard were especially satisfying to paint.

I refined certain elements, like the light on the blaster, Daxter's face, and some of the lineart color. Most importantly, I added another building into the blank background space and made the whole picture darker and with higher contrast. This is definitely more polished.
